In a bare room, with a plastic tarp, naked bodies and water, Brazilian choreographer Lia Rodrigues draws us into a beautiful promenade performance that explores our humanity and the elements that connect us.
From the favelas of Rio de Janeiro comes Pindorama, an immersive experience bursting with evocative imagery to entrance you. From solitary individuals, 11 dancers evolve into a teeming crowd, a collective body moving as one and spiritedly shielding itself against the elements.
In the language of the indigenous Tupí people, ‘Pindorama’ was the name of Brazil before its colonisation. For Rodrigues, Pindorama is the expression of a physical and spiritual world in constant transformation; through her choreography, she illuminates our collective consciousness and invites us to see the world from a new and heartening perspective.
