About

In 2016 Perth Writers Festival hosts its first series designed especially for education professionals. Featuring an impressive line-up of Australian and international authors and hosted by experienced authors and educators, AJ Betts and Julia Lawrinson, the two streams of the Inspired Learning Program explore the challenges of engaging young people in literacy and discuss current developments in the world of children’s literature.

Primary educators can hear Sean E Avery and Sally Rippin discuss innovative ways to develop young readers and Emily Rodda, Andy Griffiths and Carole Wilkinson explore writing cultures in the classroom.

Secondary sessions include a discussion between Jack Heath, Katherine Rundell and Brendan Ritchie on engaging teenagers’ in reading. Jasper Fforde, Meg Mckinlay and David Burton look at developing students into independent writers and Stella Prize Schools Program ambassadors Bec Kavanagh, Ambelin Kwaymullina and Fiona Wood discuss diversity.
