As part of the creation process for our Lotterywest Festival Opening Event, Home, we are seeking, from Western Australian residents, images that best depict your own feelings of home – from a hot summer’s day at the beach, playing cricket in your favourite little nook in the suburbs or the bush. We are after images of those who have left, like the Australian war brides, and those who have arrived on Australian shores to start a new life. Think about your own image of home and share it with us!
A selection of the images of WA will be presented on a huge transformable stage, employing a magical combination of projection screens and throwing image and film across an epic 60-metre circumference.
Home is an epic celebration of Perth and Western Australia. Part concert spectacular, part multimedia visual arts installation, Home will play at Langley Park on Saturday 13 February and feature performances from a wide range of contemporary artists. Home will reflect on what the Western Australian landscape and concept of ‘home’ means to its most evocative and imaginative artists, from its Indigenous inhabitants to its most recent arrivals.
It will explore WA’s majestic landscape, the way we have influenced it and the way it has changed us – the way it has burrowed into our imaginations and defined our sense of self.
Post your image on the Facebook event page for Home, here. Don't forget to mention where the image was taken, when it was taken, and who's in it!
